ಕಾಲ್ಚೆಂಡಾಟದಲಿ ನಿಜ ನಿನ್ನ ನುಡಿಯು
ಮೇಲ್ಕೊಂಡಾಡುವೆನು ’ನಿನಗಾರು ಸರಿಯು?’
ಅಷ್ಟಪಾದಿಯೆ, ನೀನು ಈ ಬುವಿಗೆ
ಇಷ್ಟವಾಗಿಹೆ, ವಂದಿಸುವೆವೈ ನಿನಗೆ.
ಅಷ್ಟದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳಲ್ಲು ಅಹ ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ತುತಿಯು!
ಅಷ್ಟದಿಗ್ಗಜಸಮಾನ ನಿನ್ನ್ ಮತಿಯು!
ಅಷ್ಟಮಂಗಲಸಹಿತ ಅರ್ಚಿಸುವೆವ್ ನಿನ್ನ
ಅಷ್ಟಾಂಗಸಹಿತ ಪೊಡಮಡುವೆವ್ ಚಿನ್ನ!
ಎಷ್ಟು ಹೊಗಳಿದರೂ ಕಮ್ಮಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು
ಕಷ್ಟ ತಿಳಿವುದು ನಿನ್ನ ಅಂತರಂಗವನು
ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷವು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ; ಅದಲ್ಲ ಠಸ್ಪುಸ್
ಆದರದನಿಂದು ನುಡಿವುದು ಆಕ್ಟೊಪಸ್!

Eight Armed Octopus
Please permit me to allude respectfully with the help of Wikipedia with regard to Octopus in connection with the Poem ‘aShTapaadi’ of Mr H. A, Shastri. In fact it is ‘aShTaShaTpadi’.

Octopus is quite different than the ‘Headfeeters’ (Snails, Crams, squids/Calamaries, Crabs.). Octopus possesses 8-catching Arms or Hauls, or grabbing arms. Then it is a feetless animal. Usually its normal life last just 2 years, where as Paul Allen has already lived 2½ years and is nearing its end. They are proved to be very intelligent and their life story is also very interesting. Contrary to ‘headfeeters’ Octopus’s live on the bottom of the oceans. They appear in all oceans in different varieties. Some of them can bite violently to defend themselves. One of them: Blauringkraken, ‚Bluering-Octopus’ in Astralian Seas injects poisonous fluid, which can lead to death.
