ಜಾಗತೀಕರಣ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಗತಿಯ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಶವಾಗಿ ಹೋದ ಕಾಡುಗಳೆಷ್ಟು ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳೆಷ್ಟೋ, ಅಂತೆಯೇ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ನಗರಗಳೂ ಕೂಡ ಈ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯ ಅಬ್ಬರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಸೊಬಗು, ವೈಭವಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿವೆ. ಲಗಾಮಿಲ್ಲದ ಹುಚ್ಚು ಕುದುರೆಯಂತೆ ಉದ್ದಗಲಕ್ಕು ಹರಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯೆಂಬ ಈ ಕುರುಡುತನ, ಒಂದು ರೀತಿಯ ಸಾಂಕ್ರಮಿಕ ಖಾಯಿಲೆಯಂತೆ ಕಾಣುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನುಮಾನವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಪ್ರಗತಿಯ ಪತಾಕೆ ಹಿಡಿದು ಓಡಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ನಗರವಾಸಿಗಳು ತಿರುಗಿ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ, ಹಿಂದೊಂದು ದಿನ ತಾವಿದ್ದ ಜಾಗ ಬದಲಾಗಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ಆಗುವ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯ ಒಂದು ಕಡೆಯಾದರೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದೆಡೆ ಅಘಾತವೂ ಉಂಟಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಬದಲಾವಣೆಯೆಂಬುವುದು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಯಾವ ದಿಕ್ಕಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ಗೊಂದಲಗಳು ಉಂಟಾಗುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನುಮಾನವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಹೇಗೆ ಕಾಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸುವುದು ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯವೋ ಅಂತೆಯೇ ನಗರಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸದೆ ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯ.
ಹೀಗೆ ಜಾಗತೀಕರಣದ ಅಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವಿಧ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರ ಗುಂಪೊಂದು, ತಮ್ಮ ಬಾಲ್ಯದ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ, ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಬೆಳೆದ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಸೇರುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ.ಆ ಜಾಗವೇ ‘ಮಾವಿನಗುಡಿ ಕಾಲೋನಿ’. ಹೆಸರೇ ಸೂಚಿಸುವಂತೆ, ಮಾವಿನ ಮರವೆ ಆ ಕಾಲೋನಿಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರಬಿಂದು. ಆದರೆ ಇಂದು ಅದೂ ಕೂಡ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯ ಬಲೆಗೆ ಬಲಿಯಾಗುವ ಹಂತದಲಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಮಾವಿನ ಮರ ಧರೆಗುರುಳುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಭೇಟಿಯಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿ ಸೇರುತ್ತಾರೆ, ನೆನಮಗಳನ್ನು ಮೆಲಕು ಹಾಕುತ್ತಾ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಕೆಲವು ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಆ ಹಳೆಯ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನು ಬಾಳುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.

As the name itself suggests, a mango tree is the focal point. And this tree is now on the verge of being destroyed for the development of the area. The friends decide to meet under the tree before it is brought down. Recollecting their childhood memories they spend few hours, reliving those joyous moments.
