The motor vehicle of the world
Would never break down deflated
Even when someone breathes last,
No one’s tear has the might to flood;

Would raise a tempest;
No one’s heart would cause
A quake with its blast.

If the living were to
Accompany the dead,
The five primordial elements
Would be under the sod.
How far do you shed tears
Draining the cauldron of your eyes?
How much do you sob
Banging the drum of your chest?
How long do you water
The plant of my memory green?
If memorials be put up
To all demised,
The living would be left roomless.

The likes dislikes,
Merry misery,
Fears tears
Of the departed
Tail him to the grave,
Yet torment those alive.
In the cryptic world that seems
Existent yet not,
Absent yet present,
Endorse it
Embrace it
And stride stronger.

No one expounds
What’s there light-years away;
None knows what’s in store
As light years roll;
There’s something close at hand,
Be ever one in the band.

ಇನ್ನಿಲ್ಲವಾದಾಗ

ಇಂದು, ನಾಳೆ,
ಇಲ್ಲಾ ನಾಳಿದ್ದು,
ಈ ಕ್ಷಣ, ಮರುಕ್ಷಣ,
ಅಥವಾ
ಆ ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣ
ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲವಾದಾಗ
ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇರುವಂತೆ
ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಸಾಂಗವಾಗಿ
ಸಾಗುತ್ತವೆ.

ಲೋಕದ ಮೋಟಾರು
ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬರ ಉಸಿರು
ಹೋದಾಗಲೂ
ಪಂಕ್ಚರ್ ಆಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ;
ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬರ ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿಗೂ
ಪ್ರವಾಹವಾಗುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿಲ್ಲ;
ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬರ ನಿಟ್ಟುಸಿರು
ಬಿರುಗಾಳಿ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ;
ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬರ ಹೃದಯ
ಛಿದ್ರವಾಗಿ
ಭೂಕಂಪನವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಗತಿಸಿದವರಿಗೆ
ಬದುಕಿದವರು
ಸಾಥ್ ಕೊಡುವಂತಿದ್ದರೆ
ಪಂಚಭೂತಗಳೂ
ಗುದ್ದು ಸೇರುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು.
ಎಷ್ಟಂತ ಹನಿಯ ಹನಿಸಿ
ಕಣ್ಣ ಕಡಾಯಿಯ
ಬತ್ತಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆ?
ಎದೆ ನಗಾರಿಯ
ಎನಿತು ಬಡಿದು
ರೋಧಿಸುವೇ?
ಎಷ್ಟು ಕಾಲ
ನಿನ್ನೊಳಗಿನ
ನನ್ನ ನೆನಪಿನ ಗಿಡಕ್ಕೆ
ನೀರೆರೆದು
ಹಸಿರಾಗಿಡುವೆ?
ಸತ್ತವರಿಗೆಲ್ಲಾ
ಸ್ಮಾರಕ ಕಟ್ಟಿಸುವಂತಿದ್ದರೆ
ಬದುಕುವವರಿಗೆ
ಜಾಗವೇ ಇರುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ತನುತೊರೆದವನ
ಆಸೆ ನಿರಾಸೆ
ನೋವು ನಲಿವು
ದುಗುಡ ದುಮ್ಮಾನ
ಅವನೊಂದಿಗೇ
ಮಸಣ ಸೇರಿ
ಇರುವವರ
ಆಡಿಸುತ್ತವೆ
ಇನ್ನಿಲ್ಲದಂತೆ.
ಇದ್ದೂ ಇಲ್ಲದಂತೆ
ಇಲ್ಲದೆಯೂ ಇರುವಂತೆ
ಭಾಸವಾಗುವ
ಮಾಯಕ ಜಗದಿ
ಅಂತೆಯೇ
ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು
ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು
ಮುಪ್ಪುರಿಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.

ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ವರ್ಷಗಳ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ
ಇರುವುದ
ಅರುಹುಹರಿಲ್ಲ;
ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ವರ್ಷಗಳು
ಉರುಳುರುಳಿ ಪೋಗಲು
ಏನಿರ್ಪುದೋ ಬಲ್ಲವರಿಲ್ಲ;
ಇಂದಿರುವುದೇನೋ ಒಂದು
ಆ ಒಂದರೊಳಗೊಂದಾಗಿ
ಬಾಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದೂ.
