ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಕಡ್ಡಾಯವಲ್ಲ : ಸುಪ್ರೀಂ ತೀರ್ಪು
ಇದೊಂದು ಬೇರೆ ಬಾಕಿ ಇತ್ತು . ಇದು ಒಂದು ರೀತಿ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ರೋಗಿಗೆ ವಿಷ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಹಾಗೆ. ಮೊದಲೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಅಂದರೆ ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕಷ್ಟೇ. ಮಗುವಿಗೆ ತನಗೇನು ಬೇಕು ಅಂತ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ, ಅದರ ಅಪ್ಪ ಅಮ್ಮನಿಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಬೇಕಾಗಿಲ್ಲ, ಇಷ್ಟು ಸಾಲದು ಅಂತ ತೀರ್ಪು ಬೇರೆ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಬೇಡ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಹೇಗೆ ? ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಬೇಡ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಇನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಮಾಲಿಯಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಕ್ಳು ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲೀಬೇಕಾ ? ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲೇ ಕಲ್ತು ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲೇ ಯೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನಂತವರು ತಕ್ಕ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಉದ್ದಾರ(!!) ಆಗಿಲ್ವಾ? ಶುಧ್ಧ ಕನ್ನಡಲ್ಲೇ ಓದಿ ಕೂಡ ನಾಲ್ಕು ದೇಶ ಸುತ್ತಿ, ಸಾಫ್ಟ್ ವೇರು, ಹಾರ್ಡುವೇರು ಅಂತ ಏನೇನೋ ಕುಟ್ಟಿ ಪ್ರಮೋಷನ್ , ಮಣ್ಣು, ಮಸಿ ಅಂತ ತಗೊಂಡಿಲ್ವಾ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲಾ ? ತಲೆ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿದರೆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶ್ ಶಬ್ದ ಉದುರೋಲ್ಲ ಅನ್ನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವರೆಲ್ಲ ಪ್ರಾಜೆಕ್ಟ್ ಅನ್ನ ನಡುಗಿಸಿಲ್ವ ?
ಇಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಪೇಟೆ ಮಂದಿ ಮಾತಾಡೋ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷು ದೇವರಿಗೇ ಪ್ರೀತಿ . ಕಂ ಯಾ ಗೋ ಯಾ, ಎಸ್ ಡಾ , ವೈ ಡಾ ಅಂತ ಮಾತಾಡುವ ಎಷ್ಟು ಪೆದ್ದು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷು ನೋಡಿಲ್ಲ ನಾವು?
ಅತ್ಲಾಗೆ ಬರ್ನಾರ್ಡ್ ಷಾನೂ ಓದಿಲ್ಲ ಇತ್ಲಾಗೆ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ರಾಯರ ಬಗ್ಗೆನೂ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ಅನ್ನೋ ಎಡೆ ಬಿಡಂಗಿ ಅರ್ಧರ್ಧ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷು ಜನ ಎಷ್ಟಿಲ್ಲ ?
ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶು ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಿತರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಒಳ್ಳೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ ಅನ್ನುವುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಪೇಟೆ ಜನರ ಅತಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮೂಢ ನಂಬಿಕೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾವ ಆಧಾರವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಕೆಲಸ ಸಿಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ವ್ಯವಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಷ್ಟು ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶು ಗೊತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ ಸಾಕು, ಅಷ್ಟು ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶನ್ನ ಬುದ್ದಿವಂತರು ಸಲೀಸಾಗಿ ಕಲೀತಾರೆ – ಶಾಲೇಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲೇ ಕಲಿತಿರಲಿ , ಇನ್ಯಾವುದೋ ಆಫ್ರಿಕನ್ ಭಾಷೇಲೇ ಕಲಿತಿರಲಿ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸಾಫ್ಟ್ ವೇರ್ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗೆ ನಾನೇ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಸಂದರ್ಶನಗಳನ್ನ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಇವತ್ತಿನ ತನಕ ಯಾರನ್ನೂ “ಆಹಾ ಎಷ್ಟೊಳ್ಳೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶು ಮಾತಾಡ್ತಾರೆ” ಅನ್ನೋ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಲ್ಲ. ಕೆಲಸ ಸಿಗುವುದು ಜ್ಞಾನಕ್ಕೆ, ಅನುಭವಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಲೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿ, ಭಾಷೆಯ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಪೇಟೆ ಜನರೇ, ಇದನ್ನ ಇದನ್ನ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಸಲ, ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಸಲ, ಮಗದೊಂದು ಸಲ ಓದಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ!! ಕೆಲಸ ಸಿಗುವುದು ಜ್ಞಾನಕ್ಕೆ, ಅನುಭವಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗೆ , ನಿಮ್ಮ ನೈಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ, ಕುಶಲತೆಗೆ, ಭಾಷೆಯ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಲ್ಲ!!
ಇದನ್ನೊಮ್ಮೆ ಊಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ . ನೀವೊಬ್ಬ ವೈದ್ಯರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹೋಗ್ತೀರಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶು ಲೀಲಾ ಜಾಲ, ಆದರೆ ಪಾಪ ಯಾವ ರೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾವ ಮದ್ದು ಕೊಡಬೇಕು ಅಂತ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ, ನೀವು ಎಷ್ಟು ಸಲ ಅದೇ ಡಾಕ್ಟರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹೋಗ್ತೀರಿ? ನೀವೊಂದು ವಿಮಾನ ಹತ್ತುತ್ತೀರಿ. ಪೈಲಟ್ ಅರಳು ಹುರಿದಂತೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶು ಮಾತಾಡ್ತಾನೆ, ಆದ್ರೆ ಆಸಾಮಿಗೆ ವಿಮಾನ ಓಡಿಸೋದು ಹೇಗೆ ಅಂತ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ, ಆ ಪೈಲಟ್ ನ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶು ಕೇಳುವ ಭಾಗ್ಯ ಎಷ್ಟು ದಿನ ಸಿಕ್ಕೀತು ?! ಯಾವ ಭಾಷೆಯೂ ತನ್ನಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೇ ತಾನೇ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಟ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಒಂದು ಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಲ್ಯಾಟಿನ್ ನಲ್ಲೋ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತದಲ್ಲೋ ಮಾತಾಡಿದರೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಅಂತ ಪ್ರತೀತಿ ಇತ್ತು (ಆ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯೂ ಹೇರಳವಾಗೇ ಆಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಅನ್ನಿ ಈಗ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಹಾಗೆ )ಈಗ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಳಾಗಿ ಹೋಯಿತು ಅದೆಲ್ಲಾ ?
ಯೋಚಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿ. ಯುರೋಪಿಗೋ ಅರ್ಜೆಂಟಿನಕ್ಕೋ ಹೋದರೆ ತೀರ ಸಾಫ್ಟ್ ವೇರ್ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಕೇಳಿಸುವುದು ಮಾತೃ ಭಾಷೆಗಳ ರಿಂಗಣವೇ. ನೀವು ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸೋ ಟೀವಿ ತಯಾರಿಸಿದವರಿಗೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷು ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೊಬೈಲು ತಯಾರಿಸಿದವರು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಶ್ ಮಾತಾಡೋದಿಲ್ಲ, ನೀವು ಪೀಯುಸಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಓದಿದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಫಿಸಿಕ್ಸು ಯುರೋಪಿಯನ್ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ಬಂದಿದ್ದು , ಎಲ್ಲ ಅವರವರ ಮಾತೃ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದು . ಅರ್ಧ ಅಮೇರಿಕಾ ಜಪಾನಿನ Animation ಸಿನೆಮಾಗಳನ್ನ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಶ್ Subtitles ಹಾಕಿ ನೋಡ್ತದೆ , ವಿಷಯ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವರೇ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷಿಗೆ ಅನುವಾದ ಮಾಡಿ ನೋಡ್ತಾರೆ ಆಲ್ವಾ ? 2300 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ನಂತರ ಇವತ್ತಿಗೂ Aristotle, Plato ಅಂತ ಮಾತಾಡ್ತಾರೆ , ಅವ್ರೇನು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಶ್ ಮೀಡಿಯಂ ಶಾಲೆಗೇ ಹೋಗಿ ಹಾಳಾಗಿದ್ರ ? ಅವರೇನು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿದ್ರಾ ? ವಿಷಯ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದ್ರೆ ಅಮೆರಿಕಾದವರೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷಿಗೆ Translate ಮಾಡಿ ಓದ್ಕೊಳ್ತಾರೆ. ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ Akira Kurosawa ಮಾತಾಡಿದ್ದು ಜಪಾನೀ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲೇ, ಅರ್ಧ ಜಗತ್ತೇ ಅವನ ಪಾದದ Xerox ಕಾಪಿ ಅನ್ನ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷಿನಲ್ಲೇ ತೆಗೀಲಿಲ್ವೆ ? ಬೆಲೆ ಇರುವುದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹೃದಯಕ್ಕೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷಿಗೂ ಅಲ್ಲ ಫ್ರೆಂಚಿಗೂ ಅಲ್ಲ!!
ಮಾತೃ ಭಾಷೆ ಬೇಡ ಅನ್ನೋದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಪೆದ್ದುತನ ಬೇರೆ ಇಲ್ಲ , ನಮಗೆ ಇವತ್ತಿನ ಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶು ಬೇಕು ಆದರೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಿಟ್ಟಲ್ಲ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲಿತರೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗೇ ಬರ್ತದೆ , ಅದು ಕನ್ನಡದ ಮೂಲಕ ಬರುತ್ತೆ ಅಷ್ಟೇ. ನಾನೇ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷು ಮೀಡಿಯಂ ಹುಡುಗರಿಗೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷು ಹೇಳಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಇಷ್ಟೂ ಅರ್ಥ ಆಗ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷಲ್ಲೇ ಕಲೀರಿ, ಅದೇನು ಗುಡ್ಡೆ ಕಡಿದು ಹಾಕ್ತೀರೋ ನೋಡೇ ಬಿಡೋಣ.
Sharat Bhat, first of all I thank you for having been the first person over a long period of time to have quoted Bernard Shaw. Secondly, Your article is of immense importance. It highlights the significance of Kannada (or to be more precise, one’s mother tongue). One can learn any language if he/she has a good knowledge of his mother tongue. I am fed up to see the use of English by so-called convent bred students. As you emphasize, it is one’s brain that is important and not the language he/she uses.
ಇದೊಂದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಲೇಖನ. ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷಿನ ಸಮೂಹ ಸನ್ನಿಯ ನಡುವೆ ಇಂಥ ಲೇಖನ ಬರೆಯುವ ಅಗಾಧ ಧೈರ್ಯ ತೋರಿಸಿದ ಲೇಖಕರನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಬೇಕು. ಸಮೂಹ ಸನ್ನಿ ಇರುವಾಗ ಕಟು ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವುದು ಕಷ್ಟವೇ. ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ಸಮೂಹ ಸನ್ನಿಗೆ ಒಳಗಾದ ಜನರಿಂದ ಉಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದೀತು. ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಿಸುವುದು ಎಂಬುದು ಇಂದು ಬಹುತೇಕರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠೆಯ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಓದಿಸುವುದು ಎಂದರೆ ಕೀಳು, ಬಡವರು ಮಾತ್ರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಗತಿಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಓದಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂಬ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಕಾಡ್ಗಿಚ್ಚಿನಂತೆ ಹಬ್ಬಿದೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ತಾವು ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೀಳಾಗಲು ಬಯಸದೆ ಇಂದು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಗಿಬೀಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಓದಿಸುವುದೇ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಎಂಬ ಒಂದು ಅಲೆಯನ್ನು ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಂತ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಬೇಕು. ಅಂಥ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಮುನ್ನೋಟ ಈ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಿಗಾದರೂ ಇದೆಯೇ (ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳಿಗೆ, ನೇತಾರರಿಗೆ, ಆಡಳಿತಗಾರರಿಗೆ)?
Good article. But without knowing English language, we cannot even make business in malls, see films in multiplexes, see the rate cards in shops, hotels. Even in hospital at Manipal, big big boards are there in Malayalam, which is not in Kannada version. Now language is not a priority in India, only communication talent, which we can make others to understand, is important. Nothing happens if one language dies (example, Samskrita). I conducted two batches of Kannada classes in our MNC office. but they expressed, ‘If we can survive without knowing local language, why should be learn?’ In such case, only writers, magazine editors and teachers require Kannada. Have you seen Kannada tv channels? Who is their Kannada? You feel sand to see such Kannada, but in the wave of English and other languages, we have no other way other than accepting this. But I feel sorry, very sorry, to express this.
A very short sighted response. But you have missed the gist of the article- that any language could best be learnt through ones mother-tongue and that intelligence counts, not the showmanship.
ಇವತ್ತಿನ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶ್ ಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನುವುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಂಶಯ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶು ಕಲೀರಿ ಆದರೆ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಮೂಲಕ ಕಲೀರಿ ಅಂತ ನಾನು ಹೇಳೋದು. ಜೋಗಿ ಯಾವತ್ತೋ ಬರೆದ ಹಾಗೆ ಮನೆ ಬಾಗಿಲು ಕನ್ನಡದ್ದು ಮಾಡಿ, ಕಿಟಕಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶು, ಜರ್ಮನ್, ಇಟಾಲಿಯನ್ ಯಾವ್ದು ಬೇಕಾದರೂ ಮಾಡಿಸಿ. ಗಾಳಿ ಬೆಳಕು ಎಷ್ಟು ಕಿಟಕಿಗಳಿಂದ ಆದರೂ ಬರಲಿ, ಬಾಗಿಲು ಕನ್ನಡದ್ದು ಇರಲಿ ಅಂತ. ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶು ಕಲಿತರೆ ಆಗುವ ಲಾಭಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಮೂಢನಂಬಿಕೆಗಳಿವೆ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲಿತರೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಶು ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಅನ್ನುವುದೂ ಒಂದು ತಪ್ಪು ನಂಬಿಕೆಯೇ. English is all pervasive. There is a sense of false prestige about it. And there is a sense of shame with regards to Kannada. What I am arguing is that this is based on ignorance, false assumptions, our inferiority complex and downright stupidity!!
Regarding the usage of English in Malls, this again has to do with the sense of false prestige attached to English. Think of it as a product, you buy what you think is cool. English has been sold as something that is cool. English has been glamorized. What needs to be done is to glamorize Kannada in a similar way. You listen to MD Pallavi introducing her songs in Kannada, it sounds so cool. The way Krishne Gowda speaks Kannada makes it sound so cool. How to add this ‘Cool’ factor to Kannada? This can be done in many different ways:
1. By producing great works of ART. Produce movies that make people from other places sit and watch. Produce great songs. Write good stuff. Think of how Mungaru male made northies ask us for translations of Kannada lyrics. Think of how a crowd of more than 2 lakh turned up for a C Ashwath concert. Think of how Aravinda Adiga(Someone read by the elite English speaking class) wrote about Yashwant Chittal’s novel in Outlook.
2. Produce knowledge in Kannada. All the knowledge right now is in English. For instance, I want to learn what Einstein’s theory of relativity says. All the good books are in English. I want to study philosophy. All the good books are either in English or in Sanskrit. I want to learn about wildlife. All the good documentaries are in National Geographic, Animal Planet etc. Lots of work needs to be done in this area.
It certainly is possible. Some examples: Pa Vem Acharya wrote on stuff like linguistics, science, sociology,anthropology etc. All in a manner that would appeal to the readers. Not boring at all. Ananth Chinivar did this recently. He wrote on science,Sports, current affairs etc in an entertaining way in Hi Bangalore and O Manase. He is tried it in Janashree channel also. “Kala Ghrabha” is a case in point. Ravi Belagere wrote on things like war,history,underworld etc(Things written based on research). All were entertaining. Bhairappa did this. He wrote things based on research, all in entertaing ways. Ditto with DVG. Poorna Chandra Tejaswi educated us on so many things like Birds,wild life, world war, Expedition to Moon etc etc. And not a single book was boring.
3. English medium schools are glamorous – Why can’t we make Kannada medium schools glamorous? Why should Kannada medium schools look like ruins from 12th century? Do all the things that the convents\English medium schools do in Kannada medium schools also. Teach English also. Let the kids learn Kannada first then let them learn English in terms Kannada. Why can’t a Kannada medium school be posh looking and glittering with brilliant looking glass panes? Why does it have to look shabby and dilapidated?
4. No need to ask North Indians to speak in Kannada, let Kannadigas speak in our language first. Like BR Lakshman Rao once said, ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ………………………. ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಂದ !! We are the greatest enemies for our language. We are the ones to be blamed. Our inferiority complex makes us turn to English. When a Kannadiga meets a Kannadiga, he has to speak in Kannada. This is natural, this is what everybody else in the world does. To extend this point further, If a cool dude in a college speaks in Kannada his friends will reply in Kannada, if a hot babe in Brigade Road starts the conversation in Kannada her boyfriend will automatically switch to Kannada !!

ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಬೇಡ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಇನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಮಾಲಿಯಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಕ್ಳು ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲೀಬೇಕಾ ?………… ಗುಡ್ ಐಡಿಯಾ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತೆǃ
ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಸೋಮಾಲಿಯಾವನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ದತ್ತು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು? ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆ, ಹಾಲು, ಬಿಸಿಯೂಟ(ರಜಾದಿನದಲ್ಲೂ), ಸೈಕಲ್ಲೂ, ಎರಡುರೂಪಾಯಿ, ಉಚಿತ ಸಮವಸ್ತ್ರ, ಪಠ್ಯಪುಸ್ತಕ, ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಬರುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಮಕ್ಕಳೇ ಬರುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲಿಸುವ ಮಾತೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಸೋಮಾಲಿಯಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಷ್ಟೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ, ಹಸಿವಿನಿಂದ ನರಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಖಂಡಿತಾ ಶಾಲೆಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ.(ಸೋಮಾಲಿಯನ್ನರ ಕ್ಷಮೆಯಿರಲಿ). ಆಗ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲಿಸಿ ಒಂದು ಹೊಸ ಕನ್ನಡ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರವನ್ನೇ ಹುಟ್ಟು ಹಾಕಬಹುದುǃ
