
Day 5 of the 6th BIFFES witnessed interactions with renowned global Directors – Taru Makela, T.S. Nagabharana, P. Sheshadri and Anand P Raj. Ms Taru Makela, Director, ‘August Fools’ said her film is inspired by cold war and brings about a road to happiness. She discussed how most commercial films in Scandinavia were monochromatic and contained a dark subject matter.

Sheshadri, Director, Bharath Stores – Film Festival is like a university where we learn from films. The existing system of Film Bazaar and Panorama sections should work cohesively. Regarding his movie, Bharath Stores, he was glad to have it screened only at the 6th BIFFES as he felt it was the right platform.

Anand P. Raj, Director, Gorukana – The movie was amongst the first to be screened at the 6th BIFFes. The story goes back 65 years projecting the Soliga tribal communities and their issues. He has successfully interacted with some of the visiting Foreign Delegates and has had Gorukana televised in the Netherlands.

T.S. Nagabharana, the famed Director, and the first Festival Director of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy spoke on the release of his latest film Vasundhara. He said it is an experimental urban oriented film depicting the activities in daily life. On the matters of the Film Industry, his views are that the Kannada film industry is relatively small, and the industry has done a good job in their respective areas and move forward to showcase in the world cinema. According to him, the urban society needed a personal touch. He took issues related to farmers, corporates and media and put together the concept which is ‘Vasundhara’. The movie starring the actor Rajesh completes 50 years with this film,

Topics discussed covered matters like funding and marketing of Kannada movies for the global film festivals. The gathering agreed on the fact that the film festival should be treated like a movement so as to reach an international platform for Kannada films as well as Indian Cinema
