In continuation with our work on building capacity of NGOs in communication skills, a two days training programme on ‘Working with newspaper for building awareness and advocacy’ (Kannada) is scheduled from 11-12 January 2012 at Bangalore.
Media plays an important role in creating awareness and building advocacy. It is essential for development organizations to understand the issues related to the working of the media. This will help you to interact with media representatives to advocate your issue through the newspapers and build public opinion on the issue.
The training will cover:
- How to approach local, regional and national press
- What makes a story in your issue
- Organising a press conference
- Writing a press release
The training uses a range of methods including presentation, group discussion, and practical exercises. All sessions will be conducted in Kannada.
The registration fee for the programme is Rs. 2500 / participant. This amount includes costs towards course material, readings, assignments, lunch and refreshments during the training.
