In 1997 police opened fire on unarmed Dalits killing 10.
Vilas Ghorge, a leftist poet and singer, hanged himself in protest.
Shot over 14 years, the film follows the music and the tradition of reason that Vilas had been a part of.
Anchored in a simple but brutal fact – Dalits have faced caste oppression in India for more than 2000 years – the film demands a discussion, an interrogation, an evaluation of our collective futures.
