Art Park Bengaluru a cultural initiative launched by Bangalore-based contemporary artists. The main activity will be a monthly event on the first Sunday of every month at the Sculpture Garden (Shilpavana) in the Ravindra Kalakshetra complex located on Jayachamaraja Wodeyar Road (a.k.a. J.C. Road).
The first event in the series took place on 30 March 2014 involving 30 selected, eminent local artists who spent the whole day working at the venue so that interested members of the public could see, appreciate and understand artists’ varied methods of work and the artistic outcomes of their work. The day-long event will enable artists and the public to engage in critical conversations that can help lay people to develop a deeper understanding of art and artists across time, location and culture. In the process members of the public will be able to develop an awareness and appreciation of visual art, which can lead to recognition of the power of creativity in constructing, defining and shaping knowledge.
The activities of Art Park Bengaluru are meant to introduce the local public as well as tourists and other visitors to the city to the many art activities that regularly take place in Bangalore. An important purpose of the Art Park Bengaluru initiative is to bridge the gap between visual art and the general public by providing a stimulating environment that provides the necessary exposure to contemporary visual art, fosters the creative spirit that exists in every individual, and challenges people to question themselves and find answers for themselves in contemporary art.
Art Park Bengaluru has been conceived and designed as a cultural activity for the public, involving a range of artists in the city, including senior and well-known ones. This initiative is promoted by Samyojita Trust (®) with financial support from the Department of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka.
 
WELCOME TO ART PARK  BENGALURU
 
• This is an artist’s initiative supported by the Kannada and Culture Department, Government of Karnataka.
• There are very few opportunities in the city, for artists and art loving public to meet each other directly, in an informal setting. Artpark Bengaluru is an attempt to make this possible.
• Please make yourself free to interact with the artists here, who are all accomplished , selected by the directors of the month.
• As an incentive to art lovers, all these artists have agreed to sell their drawings and paintings at a very nominal price.
• This is a great opportunity to begin collecting an original work of art, thereby bringing art into your home and life.
• The artists will price their first five drawings (drawn on acid free paper and with the ARTPARK BENGALURU seal behind it) at Rs 500/=(Rupees five hundred only) for each drawing. The prices of paintings will vary.
• You may choose by looking at the already completed drawings laid out on the table allotted to each artist.
• Please ensure that work done in charcoal, soft pastel and other tenuous mediums are spray fixed before taking them. This will ensure permanency of the work.
• The art work will be given to you in a cover specifically made for the purpose.
• We request you to please leave your suggestions and e mail id’s in the visitors book available at the counter before leaving. This will enable us to make this event better each month.
