SYNOPSIS
This Will Only Take Several Minutes is set in a city not far from yours. Six strangers confront themselves and each other, seeking out their place and purpose. They grapple with hunger and sickness, love and solitude, through their shadowy pasts and the foggy present. In all of this there is but one certainty – that they cannot escape this place and must try anything they can to bear it.
HANCHU-YUEI is a theatre collective based in Tokyo, founded in 2007, that tours nationally and internationally. Suguru Yamamoto is the principal writer and director for the collective. His works focus on the boundary of reality and unreality, and the story travels between each side of the boundary and questions the locations of un/reality. Suguru’s creation starts at the topics that he comes up with, such as life and death, family, sense and words, collective society…and aims further to access universal ‘questions’.
HANCHU-YUEI’s work has received attention not only in Japan but in other Asian countries for their unique way of integrating projected letters, photos, movies, colours, lights and shadows with the performers on the stage, and for their strong scripts, which often makes the audience question their ethical viewpoint and boundaries. Their recent plays include the award-winning Girl-X and I  can’t die without being born, which was shortlisted for the 59th Kishida Kunio Drama Award in 2015.

THE TADPOLE REPERTORY is a Delhi-based theatre collective of actors, writers, musicians and designers. The group is dedicated to presenting original writing and devised performances on subjects that are relevant and compelling to audiences today. Their approach to stagecraft seeks to rise above the limitations of independent theatre in the country, and to push its boundaries and conventions. Tadpole’s productions include Taramandal (2010), winner of the Hindu MetroPlus Playwright Award in 2010;  a critically acclaimed production of William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, A Brief History of the Pantomimes and NDLS, a variety sketch show about life in Delhi. The Repertory also conducts regular theatre workshops through its initiative, The Looking Glass Project.
