ಮಾನ್ಯರೆ,
ಹೀಗೆ ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವುದ
ಕ್ಕೆ, ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಷಾದವೆನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಚಾರವಾದಿಗಳೆನಿಸಿದ್ದ ದಾಭೋಳ್ಕರ್, ಪಾನ್ಸರೆ ಹತ್ಯೆ ನಡೆದು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ದಿಗ್ಭ್ರಮೆಗೊಳಿಸಿತು. ಆ ನೋವು ಇನ್ನೂ ಮಾಸದಿರುವ ಮೊದಲೆ ಕನರ್ಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಸಂಶೋಧಕರೂ, ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತ ಕುಲಪತಿಗಳೂ ಆದ ಪ್ರೊ ಎಂ ಎಂ ಕಲಬುರ್ಗಿಯವರ ಹತ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಕೊಲೆಗಡುಕರು ಹಗಲು ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಿ ಪರಾರಿಯಾದರು. ಈ ಕೊಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾರು ಯಾವ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆನ್ನುವುದು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವ ಸಂಗತಿ. ಈ ಅಹಿತಕರ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ದೇಶದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಗತಿಪರ ಲೇಖಕರು, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಾಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳು ಅಪಾರ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಖಂಡಿಸಿದರು. ಹಿಂಸೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಅಭಿವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಧಮನಗೊಳಿಸುವ ನೀಚ ಕಾರ್ಯ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಿತವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಮೇಲ್ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವ ಸತ್ಯ. ಈ ಹತ್ಯೆಗಳ ರೂವಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಂಗಳುಗಳು ಕಳೆದರೂ ಪತ್ತೆ ಹಚ್ಚುವಲ್ಲಿ ಆಡಳಿತಾಂಗ ವಿಫಲವಾಗಿದೆ. ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಈ ಅಸಾಯಕತೆ ನಾಡಿನ ಲೇಖಕರನ್ನು ದಿಗ್ಭ್ರಮೆಗೊಳಿಸಿದೆ.
ದೇಶದ ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಿಕ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಾದ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಇಂಥ ಅವಮಾನವೀಯ ಕೊಲೆಗಳನ್ನು, ಮೂಲಭೂತವಾದಿಗಳ ಅಸಾವಿಂದಾನಿಕ ಭೀಭತ್ಸಕಾರಿ ನಡೆನುಡಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟಿಸಬಹುದೆಂದು ಭಾರತದ ಸಾರಸ್ವತಲೋಕ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ತಮ್ಮ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ದಿವ್ಯ ಮೌನವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಲೇಖಕರೂ, ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಫಲಾನುಭವಿಗಳೂ ಆದ ನಮ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ತೀವ್ರನೋವಾಗಿದೆ. ದಿ ಪ್ರೊ ಕಲಬುರ್ಗಿ ಹೊರಗಿನವರಲ್ಲ. ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿಯ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದವರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಒಂದು ಕೃತಿಗೆ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗೆ ಭಾಜನರಾಗಿದ್ದವರು. ಇಂಥ ಹಿರಿಯ ಲೇಖಕರ ಕಗ್ಗೊಲೆಯನ್ನು ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಕಠಿಣ ಮಾತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಖಂಡಿಸಬೇಕಿತ್ತು, ಆದರೆ ನೀವು ಮೌನವಹಿಸಿದಿರಿ. ಇನ್ನೂ ಹಲವು ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಮೌನವನ್ನು ನಾವು ಒಕ್ಕೊರಲಿನಿಂದ ಖಂಡಿಸುವೆವು.
ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ನೀತಿ ಸಂಹಿತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಿರುವುದೆನ್ನುವುದು ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯದು. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ತನ್ನ ನೀತಿನಿಯಮಾವಳಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂದರ್ಭಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ನೋವು ನಲಿವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಬೇಕೆನ್ನುವುದು ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿನ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ, ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ, ಸಂವಿಧಾನ ಇತರೇ ದೇಶಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾದರಿಯೆನ್ನಿಸಿದೆ, ಕಾರಣ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಜೀವನ ಶೈಲಿ, ಆಹಾರಾಭ್ಯಾಸ, ಜಾತ್ಯಾತೀತವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ, ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗಳು, ಧಾಮರ್ಿಕ ಸಹಿಷ್ಣುತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಲವು ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಭಾಷೆಗಳು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಕವಿಗಳು ಸರ್ವಜನಾಂಗದ ಶಾಂತಿಯ ತೋಟವೆಂದು ವಣರ್ಿಸಿರುವರು. ಆದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ ಸಾಂವಿದಾನಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವ ಆಶಯಗಳಿಗೆ ದಕ್ಕೆಯನ್ನುಂಟು ಮಾಡುವಂಥ ಅಹಿತಕರ ಘಟನೆಗಳು ಅವ್ಯಾಹತವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಪ್ರದೇಶದ ದಾದ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದ ಅಮಾನುಷ ಘಟನೆ. ದನದ ಮಾಂಸ ಸೇವಿಸಿದರೆಂಬ ಕ್ಷುಲ್ಲಕ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮೂಲಭೂತವಾದಿಗಳು ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಲ್ಲೆ ನಡೆಸಿ ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಇಂಥ ಹಲ್ಲೆ ಕೊಲೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಈ ದೇಶದ ವೈವಿದ್ಯತೆಗೆ ಭಂಗ ತರುವಂಥ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವಂಥ, ಸಹಿಷ್ಣುತೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಗೆಡುವಂಥ ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶವನ್ನು ಸನಾತನಿಗಳು ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಂಥ ಅನಾಹುತಕಾರಿ ಸನಾತನ ಅವಿವೇಕಿಗಳು ಕಾನೂನನ್ನು ಕೈ
ಗೆತ್ತಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಸನಾತನ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ವರ್ತಮಾನದ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾಪಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ತಮ್ಮ ಬುಲ್ಲೆಟ್ಟಿನ ಮೂಲಕ ಪೆನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೆಚ್ಚಿಬೀಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ದೇಶದ ಜೀವನ ಶೈಲಿಯನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಮೂಗಿನ ನೇರಕ್ಕೆ ತಿದ್ದುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ನಡೆಸಿದೆ. ತಮ್ಮ ಪುರಾಣಶೈಲಿ ನಡೆನುಡಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಗತಿಪರ ಲೇಖಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಂತಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಯ ಸೃಷ್ಠಿಸುವಂಥ ನವಭಯೋತ್ಪಾದಕ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣರಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಂಥ ಹೀನ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳಿಂದಾಗಿ ದೇಶದೆಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಉಸಿರುಗಟ್ಟುವಂಥ ವಾತಾವರಣ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.
ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯುತ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಇಂಥ ಅಹಿತಕರ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಂದರ್ಭಿಕವಾಗಿ ಖಂಡಿಸಬೇಕಿತ್ತು, ಲೇಖಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ತುಂಬುವ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಬೇಕಿತ್ತು. ಆಳುವ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಸುವಂಥ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಸಾಹಿತಿಗಳ ಅಭಿವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಹಿತಾಸಕ್ತಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಫಲವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ವಿಷಾದವೆನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ 2008ರಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಅರಮನೆ ಹೆಸರಿನ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಸಹ ಲೇಖಕರಂತೆ ನಾನು ಸಹ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಸ್ಮರಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಐವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಮೌಲ್ಯದ ಚೆಕ್ಕನ್ನು ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಗೆ ಅಧಿಕೃತವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವೆನು, ನನ್ನ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಶೌಚ ಕಾಪಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು. ಇದನ್ನು ಅಹಂಕಾರವೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸದೆ ಸಾತ್ವಿಕ ಕೋಪವೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ವಿನಂತಿಸುವೆನು.

While I understand your anguish and appreciate your concern for the deteriorating law and order situation, I would like to bring a few points to your kind notice about the “communal incidents” that are happening in the country in the recent past.
As you had stated there were a few incidents of church attacks and physical attacks on some nuns in calcutta that happened. The main stream media and the so called intellectuals and progressives immediately went to the town shouting it is the handy work of the right wing miscreants who are emboldened by the new union government headed by Mr.Modi. These worthies did not even wait for the police to conclude their inquiry and ascertain what really happened. Subsequently, it was found by the investigations that none of these incidents were communal but were perpetrated by individuals who had personal scores to settle with the concerned church. The murder of the so called intellectuals happend in Mumbai during the tenure of the previous congress and NCP government and that of Mr.Kalburgi happened during the tenure of a congress government in our state which is headed by Mr.Siddaramaiah. You intellectuals did not protest against the Congress government in Maharashtra then nor did you protest against our own congress state government of siddu but are targeting Mr.Modi who is the PM and who has nothing to do with the state law and order. The same is the case with the UP incident when a man stole a calf, killed and ate it and a mob raided his house and murdered. While this is a highly deplorable incident and as Indians we all have to hang our heads in shame, your ire should be directed at the UP government headed by Akhilesh Yadav of SP. What public are feeling about this suddend activism by the so called progressives and intellectuals is that they are playing politics by other means. Even in the past there were much larger communal carnage that have happened in India, 1984 sikh massacre by congress goons under the leadership of Rajiv Gandhi or the massacre of Kashmiri Pandits and their subsequent exodus from the valley to name a few. None of the so called intellectuals lifted a finger then but are now standing in line to protest and return “only” their sahitya akademy award but not their prize money which came with it. (You are an exception..you have done both). While reiterating that it is the responsibility of all indians to maintain communal harmony and strive for a better tomorrow I humbly request you and your “progressive, intellectual” friends not to play politics under these circumstances.

Since, you seem to know who is behind the murder of Dr.Kalburgi and why they did it, even before the police can identify the culprits..is it not your responsibility to share this inside information that you have with the police/CBI so that they can nab the murderers?

Before putting forward your plea in support Mr Modi, please clarify two things.
1. Which word or sentence provoked you to presume that this award returning process is against Mr Modi and not against the governments headed by Mr Siddharamaiha or Mr Akhilesh? In my opinion you are yourself provoking this new idea.
2. Who are the so called intellectuals, please mention their name, who returned only the award and kept the money with themselves?

I was hoping to get an answer from Mr.Kumvee. Nevertheless the reason being cited by these so called intellectuals is that the communal harmony “in the country” has been deteriorating. They have not talked about specific states or the governments where these incidents have happened. My question to you is have there been no communal incidents in the country in the last 70 years. What were these worthies doing then. Let me tell you, they were busy accepting these exalted awards and turning a blind eye to the communal carnage that happened in the past. Have you heard about Justice Niyogi commission report. Please read it to know more about who is engineering communal riots in the country in the last 70 years and benefitting from it. As for the names of awardee retrnees you may want to do a google search for the same. I presume you are also aware that law and order is a state subject.
