1968-69 ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ತಾತ ಅ.ನ.ಸುಬ್ಬರಾವ್ ಅವರು ಕಲಾಮಂದಿರದ ಬಯಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜಸ್ಥಾನ ದ ಬೊಂಬೆಯಾಟ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದಾಗ ಬೆರಗುಗಣ್ಣಿಂದ ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ್ದು,

My personal association with Puppetry dates back to when I was a kid.Coming from a theatre and art family, there was always an artistic environment while growing up. As a kid I was always fascinated by every art form, mainly puppetry. ‘Puppet Land’ founded by my grandfather A S Murthy,had created sensation across Karnataka through its popular television show ‘Jigi Jigi Boombeyaata’ on Doordarshan.

It has always been my father A M Prakash’s dream to continue the legacy of puppetry that my grandfather left behind. Being an artist and a puppeteer himself, he has guided me and has been the reason behind this dream venture ‘PuppeTree’.

He always says that Puppetry provides a creative escape for children and adults by introducing them to the imaginative world of puppets. The art of puppetry is about bringing puppets to life and telling stories through them.It’s is a wonderful technique which provides fond memories that children will cherish for a lifetime and takes the adults back in time to relive their childhood memories.

In the age of social media, people have become overly connected, but there is also an increased sense of isolation. Live puppetry appeals to our need for the tactile and it doesn’t take place through an app on the touch screen. Puppetry brings people together for a shared experience to witness an intimate setting, oozing raw creativity into a universe we have made with our own hands.This will allow the audience to move between the real and imaginary worlds created through puppetry.

‘PuppeTree’ has come to life because of Sharada Murthy, Sindhu Bhaskaram, Anup Simha who have been a great support system to make this dream come true.

We at ‘PuppeTree’ are trying to touch hearts, engage minds and create an extraordinary experience for everyone. This will be a means of instilling love for puppetry in all age spectrums.
